My heartfelt thanks to the SAB family

Dear Colleagues,

As announced by Alan Clark a little earlier today, I have decided to conclude my time as Executive Chairman of SABM's Beverages Group at the beginning of July this year, and will be retiring from the SABMiller group on 31 July. This is in line with the decision last year to assume the role of Executive Chairman, ensuring a smooth transition as Mauricio Leyva took responsibility as our beer MD.

For the past 35 years, I have considered it a unique privilege to be part of the SABMiller team, and I am truly grateful to have worked alongside such passionate, dedicated people. I'm especially proud of everything we've accomplished in the past five years, and I thank you for your great efforts during such a critical period in our history.

Your future is bright, and the leaders of SAB, ABI and Appletiser are in a great position to lead their teams forward. Mauricio, John Ustas and Monwabisi Fandeso will work closely with Mark Bowman as he assumes the role of MD of the enlarged SABMiller Africa region. Congratulations to them all.

I have every confidence these strong leaders will continue to build on our proud heritage as one of South Africa's most admired and respected companies.
I wish you all the very best.

Kind regards

07 April 2014

Dear colleagues

We are announcing today a number of senior management and organisational changes that will become effective over the coming months. Norman Adami will stand down as Chairman of SABMiller Beverages South Africa with effect from 1 July 2014, and will be retiring from the group with effect from 31 July 2014. With effect from 1 July 2014, SABMiller's South African and African regions will be consolidated into one region for management purposes, and I have appointed Mark Bowman, currently Managing Director of SABMiller Africa, as the Managing Director of the enlarged SABMiller Africa region.

Mauricio Leyva, currently the Managing Director of Beer South Africa, will become Chairman and Managing Director of SAB Ltd. in South Africa, reporting to Mark Bowman. John Ustas, the Managing Director of ABI, our South African soft drinks business, will also report to Mark Bowman. Monwabisi Fandeso, currently Projects Director at SAB Ltd, will become Chairman of Appletiser, reporting to Mark Bowman, with Francois Rozon, managing director of Appletiser, reporting to Monwa. Norman has made an enduring contribution to the SABMiller group over many years and in many roles, and his passion, commitment, and deep business insights will be sorely missed. He has been a stalwart of our business for 35 years, and on behalf of all of my colleagues and our shareholders, I would like to thank Norman for his support, friendship and inspirational leadership, both in South Africa and as a member of the SABMiller's executive leadership team.

I am very pleased to be able to appoint Mark to head our new Africa division. As we look to capitalise on our global scale and presence by becoming a more globally integrated business, we see significant advantages in managing all of our African businesses as one region. We believe there is strong potential for profitable growth in both beer and total beverages in Africa, and, by harnessing the skills of our South African and African businesses in a combined Africa region, we believe that we will be better placed to access growth prospects across the entire continent. Mark has been instrumental in developing SABMiller's beer and soft drinks operations on the African continent over the past six years, with volumes growing from 25 million hectolitres in 2009 to 37 million hectolitres in 2013, and EBITA from US$ 562 million to US$ 838 million over the same period, and I believe he is the right person to lead the combined business, and to deliver the scale benefits and drive growth across our markets and brand portfolios in the region.

Mauricio Leyva has done an excellent job in South Africa since his appointment last year, in very challenging economic conditions. His skills, leadership and track record make him a great choice to lead our South African business and I am confident that it will continue to thrive under his leadership. We will make further announcements in due course about consequent organisational changes in SAB Ltd and in SABMiller Africa as a result of the consolidation into one region. Please join me in wishing Norman and his family a long and happy retirement, and in congratulating Mark, Mauricio, John and Monwabisi on these important new appointments.

A poignant farewell to Norman Adami

Dear Colleagues,

It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to Norman Adami who has indicated that he will be retiring from SAB at the end of July. When I was approached in 2012 to join SAB and take over as MD, I accepted the role with great pride. Apart from the special role that SAB has played in SABMiller's history, it was an opportunity to work with the great Norman Adami. In all of SABMiller, there is no other operator with his track record.

As such, it has been a great honour for me to work with Norman over the past 15 months, and I have learnt an enormous amount from him. Indeed, we have all benefitted from his wisdom, innate strategic ability and incredible insights into the business.

Over the past 35 years, Norman has left an indelible mark on SAB. He has set a very high standard of leadership during this time, and will long be admired for his honesty, resilience, commitment and strength. We look forward to continue tapping into his knowledge and advice. Please join me in wishing Norman and his family everything of the best in his retirement.

Some more interesting reading by one of our economists.

I hope I am not being seen as the messenger of bad news but I am sure it puts reality into perspective. It should give you a better understanding of what is happening around you.

Please see attached a review of 2013 household spending trends. The key highlights include:
  1. Household income grew at its slowest in over a decade – fuelling distressed borrowing
  2. Non-durable goods: Cost of utilities and fuel crowded out spending on food, beverages and tobacco
  3. Although alcohol’s overall share of wallet continues to decline, beer gained some ground over the last year
  4. Share of wallet trends imply a society becoming more comfortable – but inequality remains wide

SAB Pricing Announcement

During the national budget vote in Parliament this week, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan announced that excise on beer will increase by 8%. Prior to the excise announcement we indicated that we would assess the impact of the excise increase on our pricing structure and announce our decision on 27 February 2014.

Having taken various factors into consideration, we have decided not to increase price at this point in time.

As previously mentioned, we have sought to absorb the burden of excise which has grown s ignificantly in recent years.

The economic environment is challenging and consumers are under pressure, and so we have tried to shield them as much as possible from higher prices.

This belief remains true and has been a key driver behind our decision to ho ld price at this time. Now that there is clarity around our pricing structure, our focus should be on working with you to establish the optimal price points for our brands that will help drive your business in the coming year.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

If we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your Group Account Manager.

Yours sincerely

Good Day

We at Odyssey CRM are very excited to announce the launch of our New and Improved CRM. Apart from mostly cosmetic changes, some of the more noticeable changes are the following ;

. New Menu Layout - We have replaced the old TEXT Menu with icons featured on a Icon Dock which can be customized per user.

· Advanced Search - We have a new Advanced Search option on both the Lead and Opportunity GRID. The search will enable you to quickly filter through your Leads or Opportunities using specific data fields. · Editable Stock Grid - Users can edit stock prices quickly and accurately with our improved Stock Grid.

· Telesales – The Telesales module is very dynamic and user friendly with great new features.

These are just some of new exciting changes. We are constantly trying to improve our CRM and welcome any feedback from our valued clients. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any enquiries. Note that your version of the CRM will be updated at no cost what’s so ever on the 3rd of February 2014.
